‘Milford Haven School is dedicated to raising the standards of literacy and numeracy for all learners, so that they develop the skills necessary to cope confidently with the demands of further education, employment and adult life. We aim to achieve this through high quality teaching and learning opportunities and a rich intervention programme to engage, develop and inspire learners. Milford Haven School is committed to helping everyone reach their potential, reducing inequality and improving economic and social well-being, and the development of excellent literacy and numeracy skills are at the heart of this commitment.
All pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 will sit literacy and numeracy tests. Your child’s teachers have been teaching the skills for these tests and familiarising your child with the test format. Your child will be informed of the day each test will be taken. Parents will receive the test results in the summer term with your child’s report.
For further information please click here for the Welsh Government guide which provides parents/carers with information explaining what the tests involve and how the results will be reported.
Should you have any concerns about your child’s literacy and, or numeracy skills development then please do not hesitate to contact your child’s English and, or Maths teacher.
Miss Hill has produced the video below to allow a closer insight into literacy here at Milford Haven School. The video shows just some of what we do to nurture strong literacy skills in all of our learners.
